Top cable network went to Showtime,  which had the best representation with its shows The Real L World and Shameless. The Network Responsibility Index gathered information from 10 different broadcast and cable networks regarding the number, quality and race of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people on television in original shows. So how many of the networks really did a good job repping the LGBT crowd? The majority of networks were given "good scores," with top contender Showtime having 46 percent of its shows featuring LGBT characters. The CW, with 29 percent, gets an extra gold star on its report card for having the most LGBT people of color on TV. christina aguilera celebrates l.a. pride weekend 7 Photos » With gay and lesbian characters on at least five different shows including Pretty Little Liars, ABC Family also performed well. Due to Chaz Bono's appearance on reality hit Dancing with the Stars, and continued storylines with Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) on Grey's Anatomy, as well as the hilarious Max (Adam Pally) on Happy Endings, ABC showed some improvement in their number and quality of representations. "Americans expect to see their off-screen worlds represented onscreen and today more than ever that includes LGBT people and families. Storylines of families like Mitchell and Cameron on Modern Family and young people like Emily on Pretty Little Liars are not only growing acceptance of our community, but have found praise from viewers and critics alike at a time when visibility and acceptance of LGBT people is at an all-time high," said GLAAD President Herdon Graddick. celebs react to president obama's support of gay marriage 7 Photos » Not all networks were good at showcasing the gay culture though. CBS failed the GLAAD report card with only eight percent of their shows presenting some type of representation. On the cable end, TBS and History Channel also require some improvement, as their scores were even lower than CBS. For the full report click here. Do you have  a favorite LGBT character on TV?
