Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele not only steam up the pages of '50 Shades of Grey' -- they also influenced a spike in babies born in 2012 named after the popular characters!
There's already been reports that
50 Shades of Grey has
led to a baby boom -- but according to the popular name trends for 2012, the steamy novel has also influenced a rise in the popular characters' names!
The parenting site BabyCenter.com has released its annual list of most popular baby names, and while the
50 Shades characters didn't crack the top ten, their popularity rose significantly! The name Grey, arguably after the book's lead character Christian Grey, rose a whopping 20 percent in 2012. Anastasia, the book's lead female character, also jumped in popularity by 10 percent. The nickname Ana jumped even higher at 15 percent! Even though the
50 shades names didn't top the lists for either gender, pop culture still had a major influence -- Mason came in the boys' top five, hopefully after our favorite reality tot
