No. 1 Alabama at No. 5 LSU: 'Bama by 9.5 No. 24 Oklahoma State at No. 2 Kansas State: K-State by 8.5 No. 16 Texas A&M at No. 15 Mississippi State: Texas A&M by 7 No. 4 Oregon at No. 17 USC: Oregon by 7.5 No. 20 Nebraska at Michigan State: Michigan State by 1 No. 23 Texas at No. 18 Texas Tech: Tech by 7 No. 22 Arizona at UCLA: No Spread Given at Time of Posting

I'd like to say that there is only one game that counts this weekend, but that just wouldn't be true. While there are a lot of duds on the slate there are a handful that will affect who the national title contenders will be.

Chief among them is the Alabama/LSU game pitting the No. 1 team in the nation against some serious competition for the first time this season. LSU would love nothing more than to knock down the team that embarrassed them in the national title game last season; something that is easier said than done!

Should that happen Kansas State would love nothing more than to slide into the top spot, but they might not be in a position to do so once the Oklahoma state Cowboys are done with them. Oklahoma State has one of the best passing offenses in the nation while the Wildcats have the No. 70 rated pass defense.

If the No. 2 and No. 1 teams should fall that could leave a window that Oregon could finally climb in to. Their offense has been unstoppable as it cruised through the competition. However, if USC' Matt Barkley can keep the ball away from the Ducks and not turn it over, this game could be the third upset of the week.

So just imagine what could happen if the No. 1, 2, and 4 teams in the nation should falter? It could happen...
